I woke up in a game I never played, stripped of choice, doomed to die.
They gave me the Soldier class and threw me into a barracks ruled by elves. No tutorial. No way out. Just drills, bruises, and the creeping realization that I’m not playing. I’m being played.
My masters are NPCs who think they’re real.
The system says I’m here to fight their wars.
But a hunting accident changed everything.
I saved Prince Thalandril’s life, and now he trusts me more than his own guards. He calls me his shadow. He makes me his blade.
He doesn’t know the truth.
Beneath the Soldier class the system displays, something darker waits. Something forbidden. I am a Mage in a world where magic is a death sentence. Every spell I cast brings me closer to exposure. Every level I gain makes me harder to kill.
As whispers of rebellion stir in the palace halls, my power grows. If I want to live, I’ll have to do more than hide.
I’ll have to become an assassin in the prince’s service, and pray he never learns what I really am.

Book II
The city is lost, but the new king lives.
After rescuing Prince Thal from certain death, I am one of his few trusted servants. I am his blade in the night and his sworn assassin. Killing is my only skill, and killing has little use when we run from Veylan’s forces and search for a safe refuge.
All the friendly doors are shut to us, and the Wandering King is losing support. Those who know he lives wait for a good moment to betray him. He must hide and build his strength, but he cannot do it alone.
I am tasked with riding through his shattered kingdom, rallying what support he has left, and eliminating the threats by blade or poison or a weapon no one knows I possess.
Magic.
It runs through my veins like fire and demands my death should I be discovered. Mages no longer live in this world. Not after the overpowered players blasted the lands generations ago. It’s a mark on my back as I ride away from Thal and my friends.
But Veylan’s loyal nobles aren’t the only threat in these lands. A force darker than Veylan’s corrupt heart awaits me in the forests of the elves. A man, a creature, who plays with death, who can come into my dreams, and whose existence is known only to me.
And while Thal builds his stronghold against the armies of elves and men, I have a stand of my own to make. And one I’m unlikely to survive.
